OUR PRACTICE
At Metropolitan Psychology Group, we provide mental health services to individuals, couples, and families, focused on helping you reduce emotional distress, increase self-understanding, and enhance overall life satisfaction. We specialize in psychodynamic, interpersonal, and integrative psychotherapy.
Our approach to treatment is collaborative and supportive. We strive to create a warm, open environment through which you can explore your past and present experiences to create a richer and more meaningful future.
-
Our psychologists offer therapy to adults of all ages. Our therapists facilitate a safe therapeutic space to encourage you to openly explore your experiences and emotions, gain comfort in being vulnerable, and celebrate your progress and accomplishments. Making sure that you feel understood, checking in about your experience of the therapy, and using the therapeutic relationship to understand your interpersonal experiences are important elements of the process. Our therapists practice psychotherapy from an interpersonal perspective and incorporate cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness strategies when appropriate. We are focused on treatment tailored to the specific needs of each individual. Our goal is to help you gain insight into what contributes to unhappiness and to help you arrive at immediate and long-lasting solutions. Individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes.
-
We offer couples therapy sessions to couples in distress and/or those who would like to further explore and understand their relationship dynamics. Our psychologists are trained in a number of treatment modalities, including Interpersonal Systemic Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). During couples sessions, our therapists focus on the co-construction of couples’ difficulties and the ways that unresolved issues from couples’ families of origin contribute to those issues. Additionally, we examine the emotions and emotional communication in couples’ patterns of interaction. Couples therapy sessions are 60 minutes.
-
We offer family therapy to adult family members (adult parents/children and/or adult siblings) in distress and/or those who would like to further explore and understand their relationship difficulties. During family sessions we work to understand and shift emotional difficulties and crises by looking at the relationships rather than the individuals. There is a focus on understanding individuals’ thoughts, feelings, and behavior within the context of their families and on helping families collaboratively navigate through difficulties. Family therapy sessions are 60 minutes.

Our clinicians are out-of-network providers and do not accept insurance directly. Many people have out-of-network benefits and are pleased to discover that they are eligible for partial or full reimbursement for therapy. Should you wish to submit for reimbursement from your insurance carrier, our office can provide the necessary paperwork and walk you through the process.
If you would like to verify your own coverage, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:
Do I have out-of-network mental/behavioral health benefits? Typically an out-of-network plan is referred to as Preferred Provider Organization Plan (PPO) or Point-Of-Service Plan (POS).
Do I have an out-of-network deductible that has to be met first before I get reimbursed? Has any amount of my deductible been covered this year?
What is the usual and customary rate covered by my insurance for outpatient psychotherapy (CPT code 90834)?
